2011

    • Altech was nominated as one of the Top 500 South Africa's Best Companies.
    • Altech rated 1st by the Financial Mail Top Companies from among 100 listed companies in SA in 2011. 
    • Altech was awarded a consolidated level 3 B-BBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) verification status by an accredited verification agency. The company achieved a 110% procurement recognition level, 28.6% black ownership and 13.2% black female ownership, scoring maximum points in these areas.
    • Altech was the winner in the General Industrial category awarded at the "Best Reporting and Communication Awards" held by the Investor Analyst Society.
    • Altech received the TT100 2011 Minister’s Award for Sustainability, and Altech Multimedia and Altech Netstar won the TT100 2011 Award for Excellence in the Management of Systems.
    • Intel Capital, Intel's global investment organization, announced an agreement to invest $5M in JSE Listed Allied Technologies Limited (Altech), Intel Capital’s first investment in South Africa.

2010

    • Altech was rated 5th by the Financial Mail Top Listed Companies in SA from among 200 listed giants in SA in 2010.

2009

    • Altech was the winner in the General Industrial category awarded at the "Best Reporting and Communication Awards" held by the Investor Analyst Society.
    • Altech was awarded the JSE SRI Index Best Performer certificate.
    • Altech was nominated as one of Top 500 South Africa's Best Companies.
    • Altech was selected as one of Sunday Times's Top 100 Companies
    • Altech received the "Technology Top 100 2009 Minister's Award" for Sustainability Established Allied Technologies.
    • Internet technology solutions company, Altech Technology Concepts, has seen an explosive growth in its business, spear headed by its flagship product TC Channel Bonding. This offering contributed substantially to a 50% increase in Internet traffic in the last three months as well as a 43% increase in headcount over the last six months. This growth comes from the increasing number of clients choosing bonded ADSL Internet access over other more costly high-speed connectivity options and from current clients increasing their Internet activity.
    • Arrow Altech Distribution is newly appointed by Wavecom.  Wavecom has joined forces with Sony Ericsson’s M2M Business Unit.   These two market leaders marks a pivotal point in our industry, showing their collective commitment to the automotive and industrial wireless market, as well as a proactive approach to build a stronger, more global, and more innovative company.

2008

    • In July 2008, Altech was the winner in the General Industrial category awarded at the "Best Reporting and Communication Awards" held by the Investor Analyst Society.
    • Altech Netstar received received the "Technology Top 100 Award" for Excellence in the Management of Innovation.
    • The acquisition by Altech Netstar of a well-established fleet management company, ComTech (Pty) Limited, for a consideration of R53 million.
    • Altech received the "Technology Top 100 2008 Johannesburg Stock Exchange Award" for Excellence in the Management of Technology, Innovation and People.
    • Altech’s strategy is built on convergence and global expansion in the telecommunications, multi-media and information technology sectors, the so-called TMT market. The cornerstones of this strategy rest on achieving tactical positions in our chosen markets around the globe by concentrating on developing and owning intellectual property rights, and providing value-added products and solutions, particularly where technology convergence is driving consumer demand.

2007

    • Altech UEC won the “Innovator of Year Award" from Proudly South Africa at the Wesbank HomeGrown Awards held in Fourways in May 2007.
    • Altech Netstar received the "Technology Top 100 2007 Minister’s Award for Overall Excellence", awarded in recognition of the wide range of excellence across many company disciplines needed to keep this company at the forefront of its market.
    • Altech Netstar received the "Focus on Excellence Award" for best service in vehicle recovery 2007.
    • Altech received the "Technology Top 100 2007 Award for Excellence in the Management of Technology, Innovation and People", in recognition of the synthesising and harmonising of the triple challenge of technology relevance, sustainable innovation, and its commitment to skills development, through the recently launched Altech Academy.  

2006

    • In July 2006, Altech was the winner in the General Industrial category awarded at the "Best Reporting and Communication Awards" held by the Investor Analyst Society.

2005

    • During July 2005, Altech was rated 11th by the Financial Mail magazine. It is noted that Altech was one of only four listed companies that managed to remain within the top 20 companies in South Africa for the past three consecutive years. It was also the only company to have improved its ranking during that period, moving from 19th to 13th to11th position.
    • In November 2005, Altech was the winner in the Leader in Portfolio Management category at the "2005 Technology Top 100 Awards" banquet.

2004

    • In the Sunday Times Business Times Top 100 Companies for 2004, Altech was rated 35th of all companies listed on the JSE's Securities Exchange.
    • The Altech group received the award for being the best Holding and Management Company at the prestigious "2004 Technology Top 100 Awards" banquet.
    • In November 2004 Altech was awarded both Diamond and Gold Status at the "Professional Management Review's Corporate Care Awards" ceremony in Johannesburg. The Diamond Status, the highest award, was presented to Altech for its Corporate Governance. The Gold Status, the second highest award, was presented to the group for job Creation and Training, Social Upliftment, Environmental Care and its Fight against Crime.
    • Altech successfully qualifies for the new JSE Securities Exchange's Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Index in March 2004. This Index showcases listed companies that have achieved the requistite score in relation to a set of criteria that measures triple bottom line commitment and performance.

2003

    • The Altech group came joint first in the Top 10 ICT companies in South Africa in October 2003. This accolade was presented jointly by the Corporate Research Foundation and Computing SA. The other joint winner was the HP Group.
    • UEC delivers millionth decoder to Multichoice.
    • Altech offers R560million to acquire NamiTech (deal still subject to regulatory authority approval).
    • February 2003, Altech breaks the R4 billion turnover mark with exports to 36 countries, reaching the R571 million level.
    • Altech was honoured by the Financial Mail magazine as being one of South Africa's top 20 companies and rated 19th in 2003.
    • During September 2003 Altech, in the Professional Management Review magazine, was rated as "excellent" by South Africa's leading investment specialists in the electronic and electrical equipment category.
    • At the prestigious 2003 Annual Business Day Technology Top 100 Awards Ceremony, Altech, for the second year in succession, received a certificate and trophy for being the overall winner in the Holding and management Company category.
    • The Altech group received the award for being the best Holding and Management company at the prestigious "2003 Technology Top 100 Awards" banquet. At the same ceremony Altech received a special accolade, Platinum TT100 status, for being the group that had best maintained the Technology Top 100 emblem of excellence for the past five consecutive years.

2002

    • Keops Isis has name change to Keops Altech.
    • Altech reports impressive results for the six months ended 31 August, 2002. Headline earnings per share up 24 percent when compared to same period last year, revenue increased to R2,1 billion, up 14 percent and operating income increasing to R171 million.
    • Altech, for the first time ever at interim period, declares a special dividend of 50 cents per share.
    • Total subscriber base at Autopage now exceeds 460 000.
    • Netstar, with a subscriber base of over 200 000 active units, takes market share in South Africa.
    • Netstar sponsors SABC TV’s Morning Live news and traffic helicopter, the Netstar Newscopter.
    • Arrow Altech becomes Microsoft’s new local embedded distributor.
    • Keops Isis enters the industrial quality assurance market.
    • Altech Card Solutions acquires Cardtronic Cards.
    • Altech was honoured by the Financial Mail magazine as being one of South Africa's Top 20 Companies in 2002 (Again rated No.8 for the second year running of all JSE listed companies)
    • In the Sunday Times Business Times Top 100 companies for 2002, Altech was rated 37th.
    • At the Annual Business Day Technology Top 100 Awards Ceremony for 2002, Altech was presented with a certificate and trophy for being the overall winner in the Holding and management Company category.

2001

    • UEC Technologies wins a R121,6 million order from Arab Digital Distribution, which broadcasts to several countries in North Africa and The Middle East. UEC also landed its first sales in the US.
    • UEC Technologies received a R276 million order for the supply of interactive digital satellite television (DStv) decoders from Multichoice Africa.
    • UEC sponsored Amanda Coetzer at Wimbledon.
    • Altech's interim financial results for the six months ending 31 August 2001, showed impressive growth with headline earnings per share increasing by 24 percent.
    • This growth momentum in its sixth consecutive year, was in line with forecasts made by the group.
    • Netstar has signed a multimillion rand deal to expand its operations into Malaysia. Netstar has recruited Malaysia's biggest vehicle maker, Proton, as its senior partner in the venture.
    • Autopage received an award from Vodacom as "Outstanding service provider to Vodacom".
    • Altech was honoured by the Financial Mail magazine as being one of South Africa's Top 20 Companies in 2001 (Rated No.8 of all listed companies).
    • Altech, plus subsidiaries UEC, Keops Altech and Netstar, were recognized by Deliotte and Touche as four of the fastest growing technology companies in South Africa (2001).
    • Altech, with an impressive compound capital growth rate of 34.9 percent over the past five years, was rated eight in the Sunday Times Business Times Top 100 Companies Survey in 2001. This was determined by the growth in Altech's share price with income reinvested over the 5 year period.
    • Altech, in 2001, was the overall winner at the annual "Business Day Technology Top 100 Awards" Ceremony.
    • At the same ceremony President Mbeki presented Altech with a certificate and a gold medal for being the overall winner in the Holding and management Company category of the President's Award for Export Achievement.
    • Also, at the same ceremony, Altech was declared the overall winner for its Excellence in Management of Technology.

2000

    • Share price reached an all-time high of R26,50.
    • At this year’s prestigious Technology Top 100 and President's Awards, Altech and its subsidiaries were awarded the following awards:
      1. The Technology Top 100 overall winner in the category of the electrical electronic products and energy: UEC Technologies.
      2. The Business Day Award for the holding/management company that has most successfully developed a culture of technology excellence throughout all its subsidiary companies, a combined award for the President's Award and Technology Top 100 Award: Altech.
      3. The Technology Top 100 Award, category, information technology: Isis.
      4. The Technology Top 100 Award, category, holding management companies: Altech.  
    • UEC Technologies reached the milestone of producing its one millionth decoder. This occasion was celebrated at an illustrious event held at Mount Edgecombe and was attended by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr Mandisi Mpahlwa, and many other dignitaries.
    • Altech bought out the minority shareholders in Autopage Holdings which resulted in the delisting of Autopage Holdings from the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa, and which is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Altech.
    • Altech head office moved into new premises in Houghton, which was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mrs Lindiwe Hendricks.
    • Altech produces excellent results and has a record order book for the half-year ending 31 August 2000. Headline earnings per share were up 43,3 percent.
    • Altech acquired Africard, a leading card personalisation and software development company, a division of Share & Gibson Group, for R33 million.
    • Altech secures a Digital Set Top Box decoder order exceeding R220 million.
    • Altech’s headline earnings per share up 33,2 percent for the year ended 29 February 2000.
    • Autopage revenue exceeds R1 billion.

1999

    • Sold Detonator Technologies to AECI Explosives Limited.
    • Sold 50% stake in African Defense Systems to Thompson CSF.
    • Arrow Altech Distribution facility was officially opened by the Minister of Finance, Mr Trevor Manuel.
    • MessageLink joint venture established between Autopage Paging and Radiospoor Paging.
    • National Netstar Vehicle tracking and recovery network established.
    • UEC Technologies breaks into the Chinese DStv market.
    • UEC Technologies facilities opened in Australia.
    • Altech Smartcard Technologies entered into an exclusive strategic alliance with Datacard Corporation.
    • UEC Technologies established a research and development division in the USA.
    • Autopage Holdings purchased Radiospoor Cellular and Supercall Cellular.
    • Autopage Holdings acquired Cellcom's 24,95% minority interest in Autopage Cellular.
    • UEC Technologies signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nokia for China.
    • Compstream USA alliance formed with UEC Technologies.
    • Approximately R500 million Telkom Synchronis Digital Hierarchy contract awarded to Alcatel Altech Telecoms.

    • Altech exporting to 24 countries.
    • Autopage Cellular becomes South Africa's largest independent dual service provider.
    • UEC Technologies was awarded the "Department of Trade and Industry's President's Award" for Export Achievement in the electrical and electronic products category. UEC was also acknowledged as the overall winner for Technological Excellence in the "South African Engineering Association's Technology Top 100 Awards" and received merit certificates for social responsibility and product design and innovation.

1998

    • Thompson CSF joint venture concluded.
    • Became a worldwide global player in digital satellite television decoders. Orders received valued at R200 million.
    • Received Minister Lionel Mtshali, Technology Top 100 Award.
    • Awarded the Technology Top 100 Company of the year accolade.
    • Formation of Mobile Direct. Direct to market cellular outlet.
    • Altech share price reached an all-time high of R180.

1997

    • 20% stake in Alcom Systems sold to black empowerment consortium: IT&T, Masemo and lnvestfem.
    • EBE grows CPU market share to 75%.
    • Awarded major portion of R2 billion DECT ITDMA tender (Vision 2000).
    • 20% stake in Alcatel Altech Telecoms sold to local black empowerment group (Rethabile).
    • Turnover nears R2 billion.
